The Foundation’s grantmaking in the area of Children, Youth and Families seeks to improve well-being…
Swope Health Services has recently deployed a new mobile medical unit to provide care to those who are homeless and can’t readily access services. Four days a week, this vehicle goes to drop-in shelters, encampments, tent cities, wherever individuals gather and need help for adverse health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, wound and foot care. It also has space for private mental health counseling. The unit’s staff works to build trust and encourages all clients to get continuing health care at one of Swope’s permanent locations. Addressing the Foundation’s overarching goal of better health in our community, grants in the Health category aim to help those with limited resources get access to quality health care and learn how to achieve positive health outcomes for themselves.
